Universe Sandbox, developed by Giant Army, is a physics-based space simulator that merges real-time gravity, climate, and material interactions to let players manipulate the cosmos. With Newtonian mechanics driving its N-body simulation, the game emphasizes scientific accuracy while offering tools to create, destroy, and explore celestial systems. Its standout feature is the ability to model planetary climate, showcasing the delicate balance of Earth's ecosystem and the effects of cosmic forces.

Real-Time Gravity and Collisions

Universe Sandbox uses Newtonian mechanics to simulate gravity across stars, planets, and other celestial bodies at any speed. Players can witness the aftermath of massive collisions, such as stars exploding into supernovae or planets colliding to leave molten craters. These interactions are calculated in real time, offering a dynamic sandbox for experimenting with the raw forces of space.

Planetary Climate and Terraforming

The game allows players to manipulate planetary climates by adjusting factors like axial tilt or proximity to a star. Sea ice grows and recedes with seasons, while extreme changes can boil oceans or freeze planets. Terraforming tools let you build planets with 12 materials, such as water and carbon dioxide, and shape their surfaces with mountains and oceans.

Universe Sandbox generates procedurally designed planets, stars, and galaxies, ensuring unique systems every time. Players can also explore historical events, such as spacecraft journeys or solar eclipses, and interact with cosmic phenomena like pulsars, black holes, and stellar flares.
